i was taking to a corvette shop in the ny area he's been around corvettes all his life. a close friend of his use to work for gm for 25 yrs. and he told me lets say my car a 91 vette 6spd all these cars were under rated as far as horsepower/tq. and they were rated at the rear wheels not the flywheel???????????
I believe that starting in 1972, that all horsepower numbers quoted from the factories were 'net' horsepower, that is, measured with all accessories, air cleaners and mufflers attached. Numbers prior to the change were gross numbers measured at the flywheel without any power robbing accessories.
Last time I dyno'd my 91, it put down 225.9 HP at the rear wheels with just a few bolt-ons and exhaust. If there is a 17% drivetrain loss (A4), that would put it at ~264.3 at the crank which would be an 19.30 increase over the rated 245 from the factory.
