Default Back firing!

I need some help. I just got my motor together and can't get it to run right. 350ci 224/224 .525I .525E TPIS big mouth, 52MM, Pro Topline Alm heads, Roller 1.6 rockers, Long tube headers, 2 "dual exhaust, underdrive pulley, no air pump or Egr, Adj reg, Cold Air box. This is what I have. The problem is when it starts it begins to back fire off and on. I have checked the dist to see if I was a tooth off and it looks good. I am at a loss! Can't stand it! Almost ready to haul it to the dealer.

don't do that... you have what sounds like a timing problem.

and it may be in the distributor, but I am thinking timing chain.

could also be your injector wiring... is that correct?

It is a new chain, and I lined the marks up. If it is a dist problem, how can I tell?

I don't know much about the TPI systems, but you cam seems a bit large for the stock computer. Do you have a chip for it? Check the plugs to see if running rich/lean as well. I just use a regular timing light on all of the plug wires to see if they are firing.

I did the same thing when I got mine back together. It was my rocker adjustment, they were all too loose. It would begin to backfire when you gave it gas around 2-3K RPM. Check yours, it may be that simple. Good luck
