I want to do a few subtle things to the 94 and wondered what are some minor mods that are worth while:
I have a K&N with the cut lid already (thats it)
1) TB Bypass? (possible on a 94?) worth doing?
2) Anyone try that airfoil in the throttle body sold at Mid America...supposed to stream the air in and give like 12HP...or is it a pipe dream... http://www.madvet.com/shop?frame=1.12.786
3) Replace the flex inlet tubing with non-ribbed tubing in larger diameter?
I am not trying to go nuts- just a few things to make it breath..
When TPIS first came out with the TB airfoil, I think it was proven that it gave you 7-8 hp.
I had something similiar to the smooth air intake piece that SLP sells for ls1 fbodies, and it is a small gain, but both of these pieces will help a small amount.
I can't believe there'd be no effect from the airfoil at all... I know that LS1's will benefit a small amount from smoothing the air flow out. I don't see why that same principle wouldn't apply to any LT1.
The point here, for the new guy, is that people - MANY PEOPLE - *have* purchased one & dyno'd it with z.e.r.o. gains. Yes, it is intuitive to any automotive enthusiast that making the intake air charge as smooth as possible is beneficial and will yield horsepower gains. Keep in mind that the LS1 and LT1 are very different beasts - each responds in a completely unique way to serious intake upgrades (heads, cam, etc.). The LS1 responds VERY well...the LT1, not as much.
I love the Mid America catalogue - just got one yesterday, in fact, and I even found myself contemplating that smooth coupler just this morning (for looks, though, rather than performance). The thing you have to realize is this about the TB airfoil: Either it smooths out airflow, but the LT1 doesn't care because it's not that big of a difference, or it doesn't smooth out airflow at all and it's just a waste of money. Either way, save your hard-earned cash!
