I have to replace a broken hood emblem on my '94 LT1. I removed the two nuts underside of hood but it apparently is glued or had an adhesive backing that still clings to the paint. I'm a bit worried about forcing it off and damaging the paint. Is there a trick to removing it and the adhesive without doing harm to the paint? Maybe Goof Off?
Use either a hair dryer or let the car be in the sun for several hours to
really heat up the area and then use dental floss to cut thru the hot
adheasive. It comes right off. Try it.
I've tried both floss and fishing line on previous cars, and I find that the fishing line really just works better. It doesn't rip... And the hairdryer suggestion is a good one. If there's any adhesive stuck on the car afterwards, you can use a product like Goo Gone to get it off, IIRC. Just remember to reapply wax - it strips that off too!
