Other cars that I have owned typically have an "accessory" position that will allow radio etc to work without engaging the ignition "run" functions. My car doesn't seem to have this key position. It goes from Off to Run to Start...is my ignition screwed up or is this normal on early C4s?

Turn the opposite direction for ACC. (CCW from OFF)
Well well well...don't I feel like a dough head! A little WD40 and CCW works...and so do accessories! I think (after five years) I maybe should read the owners manual!
...now, if I could just figure out a way to make the car have lights, then I could drive it after dark!!!
Mine was the same, spray a little WD40 in there and she'll be good
I know I'm resurrecting an ancient thread (so please don't beat on me too badly, ok?), but my search led me here to find the above quick -fix for what was otherwise an annoying little issue, that was on my official "Annoying Little Issues to Fix During the Winter Months" list. Sprayed a few light shots of WD-40 around the outer perimeter of the lock cylinder, let it propagate in, try ACC and viola, I now have the ACC function of the ignition switch back.
Things that don't work like they're supposed to drive me nuts! Maybe bringing this back can help someone else too...seems this issue is more common than you'd think.
It's good to know, but as someone who grew up with GM cars the ccw key turn and the multi function blinker stalk all just seem natural to me. It's my push button start kia with the brights pushing the blinker stalk forward that seems so wrong.
