Default Fuel injector questions

Hi All,

Just what you wanted------more fuel injector questions. Well here they are.

If the motor is running and an injector connector comes off does it damage the injector or the ECM if the connector is just plugged back in with the motor running? Along the same lines, is it OK to unplug and replug the connector with the motor running ?

Has anyone had any long term info on the 5 O Motorsports pink injectors ?

Has anyone had any luck with professional cleaning of the stock injector I just removed ?

Regarding the stock injectors, there is a cone shaped aluminum piece at the manifold end of my stock injectors (1987 car) that appear to focus the spray. I have never seen this feature on a motor vehicle but I have seen this cone shaped feature on aircraft motors. Any info would be appreciated.

Best Regards,

Don.

I just installed a set of those injectors sold by 5-0 motorsports and they work well. I do not have long term experience.

I have used Ford injectors and have had no problems. Never used the pink ones tho. Used the 30# ones, Blue ones(24#) and now Green (42#)ones.

I have had www.rceng.com clean my injectors in a Ford 2.3L engine. They returned me a readout to show that 2 of my 4 injectors were just about clogged and the other 2 were so-so. After cleaning all of them were just at about the same rate. The idle and WOT also improved so I guess they were right.

I just installed a set of Accel 24# jectors and my 90 Convert is very happy. Bought them at Summit Racing for $229. Good Luck.

So they're doing well? Thats good to hear music_man I love mine. Lots of guys in here like the Fords. But I dunno? Thats fine and to each his own. They must be good, but for some reason it just felt like sacreligious to put fords on my chevy. Its like admitting defeat. I'm just a bowtie guy I cant help it.

Skateparkdave - I appreciate your help on this. They are working great. I also changed the EGR, put in a 160F Thermo, and new cap-rotor-wires-plugs- Fuel filter as well. My car has ~40K miles and runs primo. Thx

I think those tips are just to protect the injector pintles. You don't want a focused spray, or fuel hitting the tips and dripping into the intake.... you want a fine cone-shaped spray.

I've plugged and unplugged my injectors a bunch with no problems. I used this technique with the car running to pinpoint which ones didn't work. If the engine bogged, that injectors worked in some form. If there was no effect, that injector was dead or clogged.

No problem w/ plugging or unplugging INJ while the engine is running. You won't hurt the INJ, or the ECM.
