Getting my tranny done should be ready on friday, was wondering what everyone here has paid with labor.
I am getting a new converter, band, input sprag, heavy duty clutches, new pump with hardened vanes.
2,495. That covers everything does that sound bad?
Yes that sounds very bad. But it all depends on what your having done to it though. I've had 2 tranys ( 700 r4) rebuilt one out of my z-28 I took it out and brought it too them and it was $850 with kevlar bands, T.C. ( stock ) valve body reduild kit with a shift kit and all seals. My other one was out of a truck, they took it out and installed it, with everything above and new T.V cable and cooler lines/ trany cooler the price was around 1,400on't know why the big difference but I would have to think the trouble in removing/installing the tranny in your car. And with the vette I could see why they would charge you that. But $2,500 still sounds high too me.
Well, I thought that but, the guy build the trannies for most of the faster cars that run at bremerton and Pacific international raceways. I trust him. So I don't mind payiing that much. It has a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty, that does include a new valve body as well. It was messed up I stopped to look at it. you should have seen the inside of it...I can't believe it was still shifting
What kind of clutch packs and parts did get for that price. I didn't want to mess around my car has intake, head work, cam, headers exhuast and custom chip. My Converter is after market. It cost me 300 bucks shipped from monster. Did they actually replace your pump? or did they use the old one? I am starting to wondering now, althought all the parts I have going in it cost about 1500 bucks. My pump was 235 bucks alone. New planet gears as well, the upgraded ones similar to the ones in the 4l65e(they maybe the same I can't remeber) I guess maybe I went over kill but I bet it won't break...or at least I hope not.
Im thinking part of that $$ is to cover that warranty. 3/36 is pretty hard to beat.
Yeah it has to be a big part of it.
I just got a quote today for $1300 + what ever the converter is going to be to do my trans with it in the car. $500 just to pull it out and put it back in.. But hey for $500 it's not worth the time and cuts for me to do it.
I'm not sure about all of parts used in mine. I know some came from GM. It was done at my neighbors shop and he is a perfectionist and knows that I'll hammer down pretty frequently. He has been my neighbor for 20 years and I just trusted him to do the job right.
