My auto '91 has edelbrock heads very similar to stock, a cam about the same an LT4 cam, headers, exhaust, and an air pump eliminator right now. I have a super ram to install, but I'll be leaving on a 400 mile trip back to college a few days after. My question is, will there be any tuning issues that would prevent that trip? I can't install or fix many things down there for two reasons: lack of tools and lack of know how for major things.
The other time when I'll be back home where a fellow forum member can help me install it is around Christmas. Having a super ram sitting besides me for 4 months would suck, but I don't want to do anything that might leave my car stranded 400 miles from home.

I had headers and the SR intake on my car and drove from WI to KY and on the way back, I stopped by Lingenfelters to have John take my car and drive it so he could dyno tune it using the road as a dyno. My only issue is that I had a Code 32 which was an EGR code.
Do yourself a favor and put a slot on the end of each of the bolts that go from the runners to the box manifold. That way you can screw them in with a small screwdriver and do the final few twists with a 12 point wrench. 1/4 in I believe. That or the install will take forever.
I would wait. If your using your car daily driver. You many run into to trouble. Or you can roll the dice... and just do it
I did it with a stock EPROM. The car would seem sluggish till it got fully tuned. Another way is to call www.fasterproms.com and they can burn you a EPROM so there will be no tuning issues. If you borrow their DIACOM unit and have a laptop, they can make fine tuning adjustments to the EPROM program via email.
Just wait until you get back home. I can do mine off and on in about 2 hours now, but the 1st time is always a horrible experience. You learn lots of tricks and how to make it much faster the more times you do it. I've seen people without their cars for 2 weeks trying to install a superram their first time if they don't have someone around to help.
FWIW, I'd be the one helping with the SR install. I've not done a SR yet but I've done the TPI motors dozens of times now(I'm a mechanic). If Bryan wants to do it I'd be there. The big thing was if anyone has run into any ussues on drivability on a stock chip. His cam is very similar to that of a stock LT4 cam but has 3 deg more intake duration. His heads, best I can remember are the edelbrock replacements for the 113's and are nearly the same.

It won't be perfect, but it'll run. I've run the stock chip in my car and although down on power it runs well. Startup and idle are a bit funky though.

I found that Sears sells a small ratchet box wrench that is the right size for about $7. Takes only a couple minutes max per bolt, and you can get to all of them with no issues.
