Default Rear end noise again

After reading past posts I think I know what this is but I am looking for a second opinion before I go out buying parts. I have a noise coming from the back like a metalic thump or scrape when going forward or reverse in slow speeds. It is almost like the wheel is hitting something as it goes round. The u joints and everything else seems tight. It seems to only happen when the clutch is engaged. I don't seem to hear it when I speed up, though my exhaust is a little loud. Is this a wheel bearing going bad or should I be looking for something else? If it is a wheel bearing do they have to be replaced in sets? Thanks for any help with this!

You might try doing some trouble shooting. Advice from the experienced on the forum provides a great advantage in ANY project, but we can't see it and feel it, long distance.

"HAVE TO"??? Not really, but like brakes and shocks, they're best done in axle sets.

RACE ON!!!

1. Check your lug nuts.
2. check calipers to make sure they are tight
3. Could still be U-joint
Drive on....

Thanks for the replies!! I'll keep checking it out. What gets me is that it almost sounds like a stone in a hubcap at times but I don't have hubcaps. Thanks again!

Sounds similar to what my problem was - the front u-joint. Clanking/scraping sound traveled through driveshaft to rear end.
