Essentially, the ECM saw an airflow that was too low for throttle position, or virtually no air flow at start up. Check power supply to the MAF - purple wire. Should have 12 volts with it running. If it does, sensing wire is probably shot and you need a new one. By chance, did you remove the screens?
Yeah I had the screens and heat sink removed a while back.
Happened after a dissappointing day at the track. I missed a gear (I have excuses, heh) and had a "nitrous pop" and I checked the rear view and saw a huge puff of black smoke.
That was on the first run, and I had like 3 more. I didn't see the code until it was time for me to leave and the car ran somewhat OK on the way home.
There have been some posts reporting that this performance enhancement along with a K & N air filter hastens the demise of the sensing wire. Hope that's not the case for you. Do check power, may be just the relay.
