Default How Do I Hotwire My Vette?

No, i'm not about to commit a felony

My steering column is FUBAR. The tab that the lock cylinder turns no longer does anything, and now the wheel won't go back on because the plastic piece inside was so worn out it just fell apart when i pulled the wheel off!!

Just had it towed home and I need to get it running so that I can get some vise grips around the steering spline and gently get it to the back of my garage!

Are there 2 wires I can jump on the steering column to get her started? Or maybe some other way?
Already tried putting it in 'on' position, and jumping the starter terminals - cranks but wont run.

What year is it? Makes me wonder if your gonna run into problesm with the anti theft stuff.

You need to bypass VATS in order to start your car with the key or to jump the ignition switch. You can clip a fixed resistor the same value as the pellet in your ign key across the contacts in the ign tumbler that "make" with the pellet.

It's an 86... and how do we know its mine? Cuz I was the idiot trying to push it into my driveway last nite

...the problem isnt the VATS - that's working fine, i have a lock cylinder w/ VATS plugged into the connector under the dash

The problem is the metal tab that the lock cylinder turns to determine whether the car is off, on, starting, accessory, etc..

...It worked the other day if i turned it with pliers but now that wont even work. I need to bypass the whole steering column and get her running so I can get it into my garage
