The pump on my 92 had a leak at the seal and just replaced the seal. I was told that the OEM power steering pump is very good and no need to go looking for an after market super pump. Personally, I would only replace the pump with a new (not rebuilt) pump. Call Chris at 800-728-8267 for a price.
how bout trying a parts store like NAPA or pep boys, or autozone..... I wonder if they have rebuilt or new from aftermarket suppliers...
what were your symptoms??
Symptoms: There is a loud grinding whine, accompanied by loss of power in the steering wheel, when you turn the wheel under heavy load (auto-x) and nearly to full travel. After the first incident, there is a sound anytime you hit the full travel, left or right.
Do not get one from Autozone (Ansco rebuilt). I bought one of their lifetime pumps earlier this year and have had to replace it 4 times. I autocross the car and they are crappy rebuilds. I bought another one from a different supplier and so far (after 1 month) haven't had any more problems. The latest one was remanufactured by Cardone. You can also get them through Rockauto. I sure am an expert at changing them now. I could do it in about an hour. Only problem is the last time the pump went out I had the camber brace installed and had to take it out again. That took longer than changing the pump. I know I shouldn't buy rebuilts but I have a hard time giving up $350.00 for a new pump.
