I don't think they started putting CCM in Vettes until the 1990's.

Default ECM Question

I am a L98 guy, vintage 1988. Mine was located on the passenger side under the dash about knee high. I had a 3 or 4 screws holding a panel. Behind the panel was my ECM. To get to it I was upside down in the seat head towards the floor and legs hanging over the headrest. The plugs are a pain to get off I think there is a piece that holds them from vibrating off that needs to removed first.
Good Luck,

A replacement ECM (about 100 bucks) for your '85 does not come with a PROM or MEMCAL. You simply remove the old one and install it in the new one. You might want to post your symptoms before you buy a new one.
