Wash A 1986 Corvette
Hi I just wanted to know if any one had this same problem. When I take the car to an auto carwash the engien will start running rough then the check engein light will come on an then die it will restart but run really rough like it is flooded then it clears up and i shut off engein for alittle while and start it back up and it runs great with no check engien light.Does any one no why this does this???? please let me know thanks.

my friend has a 91 vette and had the same problem only when he took it to a automactic car wash then he was told thats a no no take it to a hand wash place no more problems. i can't give you a answer why. i wash my own car i never trust anyone i'v seen to many bad things happen people don't care it's just a car to them.

chances are pretty good it's time to replace your spark plug wires. when the wires are old and cracked humidity can cause the symptoms you just described.

I have a 1986 and there is a battery juction block right behind the battery. Well if you pour water into the wiper area, all the water drains right onto the juction block. I dont know why chevy put the drain right over the junction block. Who knows. I just extended it with 3/4 inch hose to the bottom of the car and covered the junction block with a makeshift tupperware cover. Though my car never had trouble running after a wash.
