Default Not another OPTI?

Well, What do you think.
I have been running car hard, and within the past couple months it has been kinda jerking when letting off the throttle (light load), then today after some spirited driving, it made a little back fire noise, and I thought it was just the way I was driving, which was up and down a very twisty fun to drive mountain with a ZO6 behind me ( I am not saying I was faster than him, even though I am, but we were on a very tight road with no where for him to pass if he wanted to ) Well, after a few hours of sitting I dorve it to the base, and dropped of my friend then it started spitting and sputtering , like it was missing. No codes, looked at all the plugs, very clean, not black etc, no broken or weak valve springs or any other parts in the valvetrain. The wires are all good, less than 1 year old. No water from the water pump, ignition is MSD box, and I switched back to factory no change.
ANy suggestions, please help.

damned shame this didn't happen 2 days ago... cause then I woulda been able to help ya in person!

Oh, well...

as for the sputtering... hm... if it is the opti, I would be a bit surprised.

Check the coil and the coil wire. that would be a good start.

I will be going over the car again, but after changing 5 opti's before, I can believe it is the OPTI. So many symptoms with no codes or actually broken parts. Coil isnt that old, wires are fairly new etc. Opti is a mean little bugger.

Default not another opti

When you replaced your opti, you should have done the vented modification (using the cover from the '96). I did that to my Ruby. I found instructions in an old issue of 'Corvette Fever'. If you are interested, I can find out the issue.

ruby fan makes a good suggestion... it is so humid in Hawai'i that anything to vent would be a good thing.

To me, I would update the opti to a dynaspark, LTCC or DelTeq system.

Default Leave the Opti right there

Install the new Delteq unit. go to www.optispark.com and it will take you right there. I have replaced to damn many Optis for one lifetime. I love mine. The guys at Delteq are great.
