they do "some" what the rip is on the points is if you use 92oct. and it says mix this way and you get 2 point rise, it's 92.2
some improve combustion burn
Interesting subject, why not buy a gallon of racing fuel for $4.60 mix it with 1 or 2 gallons or even more to net the octane you want. Cheaper & better for the engine.
Octane booster can leave residue on your plugs and valves that will eventually effect performance.

I use an octane additive sometimes. Not off the shelf stuff.
It is made by TORCO race fuels. Torco makes all levels of race fuel, from 100 unleaded to 116 leaded, alcohol, and Nitro-Methane.
If you wanted a 55 gal drum of Nitro delivered to your door, they will.
My point is that they know race fuels. 1 can mixed with 93 octane will make 5 gals of 110, 10 gals of 104, 20 gals of 97. the directions for the mix ratio is right on the can.
As far as the Octane Boost from a parts store...your wasting your time and money.
