The first time I saw side pipes on a C4 I said,"Ech, no way!" But check with a member here on the forum named Alchemist. He has some on a '94 that look and sound sweet. I doubt that resonance would be an issue with side pipes. That's not to say you won't hear them though!
I have them on my Vette. I love them but I only use my car to drive around locally. If you plan on using your car on the highway then you better bring ear plugs. I Bought My Car In PA And I Live In Long Island NY. After The 2 1/2 Hour Drive I Had Such A Headache. But to Drive around Town Locally, They Sound like Flow master Mufflers (Very Bearable) not too loud at all. At idle they are practically silent. My car is a rag top so I am sure that also played a role in why it was so loud. If your car is just a weekend cruise around then I say go for them. I get more complements for the exhaust then the car its self. Tomorrows supposed to be a nice day so if I have time ill take a sound clip inside and outside the car and one driving to help you figure out if they’re for you.
ok i have seen a few pics of them on here- but what do yall think about them? is the resonance bad ? sound good? and where can i buy them?
Are you talking about the side effects exhaust with the painted covers or real sidepipes?
I went with the patriot sidepipes from Summit and built some custome headers from a set of hedmans. The sound awesome/very loud, the ground clearance=none. I am removing it however now since I need to pass emissions and there is no way to mount cats with real sidepipes on the c4. As to resonance, huh, what did you say, I can't hear you. Oh, and sitting in traffic makes me a little woozy.
The side effects system is rather expensive but it does retain the factory manifolds and cats so after painting, it should be an easy install.
so what does the side effects system look like? and what kinda price can i expect?
Here's a link that currently going on in C4 General. Click Here
I paid around 1300-1400 bucks for mine. If you do a search you can find much more pics from various other forum members. Let me know if you have any other questions.
I’ve been pretty busy the past few days. I haven't forgotten. Ill defiantly have some sound clips and pictures up in a day or two. I have the side exhaust from http://www.powereffects.com . They’re nice because the fiberglass shell around it stays cool so there are no burned ankles. I’m not sure of the price since they were on there when I bought the car. ill try taking a video first and if that doesn't work i can definatly get sound clips
