Default Long tube/cats ?

I know, another question about this.

You guys think these cats will work behind a set of long tubes? Either Hedman or Hookers.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WD1V

MEASUREMENTS
4" Tall x 6-1/2" Wide
9" Body Length
13" Overall Length

I was thinking these with a set of Hedmans or Hookers and then a flowmaster cat-back would get me the cheapest/most bang for buck route so I can get rid of my side pipes setup. I'm open to suggestions here, and I'm on a really tight budget. I need a complete exhaust, headers to tips. I don't have my stock exhaust pieces either.

Oops, forgot. 1993 LT1 6spd.

Not enough room for those big boys with a LT header setup. Your gonna need some bullet cats. I have heard good things about Random Tech cats but they are high.

Your gonna have a tough time rebuilding your exhaust on a budget. Especially if you want to go the LT performance route. Might I suggest you find somone who is selling/giving away a stock exhaust. Put that on and sell the power effects kit on ebay then buy some LT headers and the bullet cats. You could then go with magnaflows or elims or get a Corsa on top of that.

Well, I wish I had a side effects exhaust system, no, I have $200 patriot sidepipes from Summit mounted onto a pair of bent, twisted, welded, and tweaked Hedmans so that they aim to the sides right after the engine. The whole current setup costs about $400 new, so not worth much in the selling department, especially since the headers don't quite line up with the pipes correctly, hence why I am getting rid of it.

As to the cats, I've found bullet cats for $150 a piece, so that's $300 just for cats so I'm looking for alternatives. You don't think if I turned then on their side so they we 4" wide and 6 1/2" tall they wouldn't fit? I know the bullet cats will be 4-5" round, so with the manual, I thought there would be room standing them up. I need some pictures of some longtube/cat setups to get some more ideas.

You don't think the flowmaster setup is that much better than stock, I'm sure I could find a stock exhaust somewhere for cheap.

Sweet, that's what I wanted to see. I don't like those pipes going between the cats and the headers though. Do you know what brand headers those are? I know no one will make me some pipes like that around here, I've tried for my sidepipes. I need something that I can do myself or midas can/will do for me.

Hell, those aren't so big. If they won't fit next to the trans., put them beyond the trans. like we have to with the automatic cars. You could even stagger them a bit if necessary. Ain't headers fun on these cars?

Alright, one more question. After the headers are ceramic coated, can I modify them at all. I was thinking of ordering the headers already coated, but I will need to add a air line and a EGR line to them, will it damage the coating too bad by drilling the pipes and welding the AIR and EGR pipes to them?

No, definitely make all modifications before coating.
