I'm replacing the door glass in my '86 and was wondering if there is a torque spec for tightening the threaded mounts to the glass. I made a 3/8" drive wrench from a disc brake piston tool to work with the odd glass fasteners. Thanks!
I thought I saw torque specs in my '96 Helms. Pretty low values if I recall.
If you overtighten, the door glass will literally explode into a million pieces.
Yup. Exploded my passenger side door glass last weekend.
It was some insanely low number, like (see below), for the encore I just tightened the drivers side until it wasn't loose, I'm sure I'll be back into the door before all three work their way off!
If I go home for lunch I'll look it up for ya...

Reason: removed wrong guesses...
And now I notice this isn't what you were asking about... oh well.
my 1993 dealer manual says:
7.75 N*m
69 lb in
That's for the three window regulator nuts AND the guide/stop nut. Be very sure that the guide/stop is properly seated in the glass before you tighten it, if it's crooked it will shatter the entire window (trust me).
And don't put the window on the ground.

Reason: Do I have to give one?
