Your wheels are aluminum with a clear coat over them. If the clear is lifting the only thing you can do is have them stripped and recleared. IMHO if your favorite car wash won't bring them up to par....you will have to either strip the old clear and polish them or strip the old clear and have them recleared.

I had my 90 wheels redone at The Wheel Wharehouse in kettering OH. For 500 bucks they bead blasted them. painted (yes there is paint on the factory wheels) and cleared them. they look like new wheels. This is the source that the local Chevy dealer uses for wheels. Chances are that they have a set for you car in stock or you can have yours done.

Just got done redoing my 89 wheels. Aircraft paint stripper quickly removes the clearcoat.Comes in spray or brush on. I used the brush on so I wouldn't have to remove tires, just was careful not to get solvent on tires. I then cleaned them with aluminum wheel cleaner, and polished them. Took 2 weekends, and a lot of work, but wheels shine like chrome.
