Default Cam question

I'll hopefully be taking delivery of a 92 coupe in 10 days or so.

Eventually, the engine setup will be a 383 stroker with AFR 210 heads and LT4 intake. From what I've read on the boards, people are suggesting going with the CC306 cam to make decent power.

My question is, I would probably be doing things in order of cam -> bottom end -> heads/intake. Would the CC306 be too extreme for a 350 for the 4-6 months while I saved up the money for my rotating assembly? This is a daily driver but I'm pretty tolerant about street manners as long as it doesn't stall at the lights. If so, what about the CC305? Eventually I want to make a lot of rwhp (430-475). Would I be able to get away with just this cam and valvetrain upgrades at this point or should I do things in a different order? Thanks in advance!

CC306 in a stroker like that is a good choice.....but there are others like GM 847 (No Go has it in his with good results).

If you are going to mod it you will probably start with the bolt ons first then go to the top end etc. before going to the bottom end because removal of the engine is necessary for the stroker.

The CC 306 can and has been used on combos with stock heads or in heads/cam setups but it is a pretty aggressive cam for that. I would not recommend it unless you are at least heads/cam and even then you give up low end power and driveability with that cam (and a nice lope at idle). These are not necessarily bad things but you have to know what to expect.

Starting with the bolt ons like filter/lid, headers and catback, gears if that is in your plan. These are relatively cheap and yeild good results .

Going on to the cam is a tough choice because a cam choice should really fit your head/intake flow and cubic inches accordingly to make the most of it. AFR heads are a great choice but you could get alot of performance from having your stock heads worked and stock intake ported to match. Choosing valvetrain again has to cooincide with cam choice .

It will come to whether you will have a decent lump saved for the entire top end or if you want to try to peice it together , which wouldnt work as well

I would go boltons, then heads/intake/cam then on to stroker bottom end eventually - that is what I have done (but will want to make a cam/valvetrain change with more cubes) ....
