Default TPS Adjustment

How many folks have done the TPS adjustment detailed at:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=55&TopicID=2

Opinions? Any things I need to be aware of? Looking for any and all thoughts...

Make sure you have good connections to the wires when you hook up your meter. Bad connections will cause you to misadjust it due to erratic
readings.. Other than that, its pretty straightforward..

That seems like a pretty through and accurate write up except that he didn't mention to also rotate the TPS about the bottom screw to get max WOT voltage.

Also, I like to set the base idle TPS value to .65 Vdc to maximize throttle response. A value above about .67 Vdc will set off a TPS code.

My method is detailed on my site.

Update:

I tried this last night, but never got to a point where the engine wouldn't die after disconnecting the IAC - in other words it wouldn't maintain any idle speed. I saw the note about getting the engine up to "operating temperatures" - is there some specific point where a cut-over to these temperatures happens? Is it the oil temperature or the coolant temperature or both?

Let the engine idle long enough to go closed loop. This will probably take five minutes or so.

At that point if the engine still dies when the IAC is disconnected, then you need to raise the minimum airflow by adjusting the torx head screw in the throttle body - driver's side near where the cables connect to the TB.

Also, sometimes you have to manually keep the engine running by blipping/holding the throttle slightly open at either the throttle body or the cruise control. You can manually hold the rpms at about 1000, then gradually relax your hand to let the R's slowly fall.

Doing it that way will sometimes allow the engine to continue to idle on its own.

But if that fails, then the min air screw adjustment is called for.

It can be difficult to get it to idle down to 450 RPM.

I found that backing the set screw off from about 600 RPM worked long enough to get a solid RPM reading.

Then if the engine dies just remove the IAC connector and you are good to set up the TPS.

Once again defeated update:

I am discovering that I don't have nearly enough of the (right) tools. Does anybody know what size wrench you need to get the IAC out and clean it as 65Z01 suggests?

Way too much work. I would suggest you take the TB out and then get an adjustable wrench on it
