I think you can. It is only held in by a spring ring around its perimeter if I recall. If not, it is only a couple of bolts to remove since the tranny is already out.
Can you even buy just the TO Bearing? I had to buy the entire pressure plate - glad I did since the springs were pretty weak.
So does the bearing back up to disengage the clutch? Interesting.
Yes,,,, when it is relaxed the pressure plate is putting pressure onto the disc, when the clutch slave pushes towards the front of the car, the fork will pivot and pull backward to disengage, and realax towards the engine when it is enaged with the disc
Since the TOB is pulling backwards, there is a flange on the Bearing that touches the back face of the PP fingers, making the TOB OD larger than the clutch fingers.
ALso, the TOB for 89-93 is 3.175 ID and the 94-96 TOB is 3.110 ID
Also, the 94-96 has a plastic sleeve in the TOB ID that makes contact with the tranny tube that is over the input shaft. The 89-93 is all metal in the ID.
When I bought a new pressure plate for my 91 from GM it came with the late style bearing and I had to change it. The early bearing is available from GM part # 10203567. Just remember that the bearing lever ball stud is a left hand thread (turn it to the right to loosen) looking at the face of the bell housing. Hope this helps
