Yesterday I was late for my flight so I was cooking through some twisties on the way to the airport. I took a very tight turn at a fairly high rate of speed, and tapped the brakes. When I did, I got the ABS chatter until the car straightened out. All I could think of was that the tight turn caused the wheel speed between the outer and inner wheels to be significantly different, making the ABS think I was skidding. Is this normal for it to do this? This is only the 2nd time I've even had the ABS do anything, but last time it was when I whoa'd up very quickly on a wet road, so it was understandable.

So... is this typical or is my ABS FUBAR'd?
Sounds like it could be normal, you didn't tell us how fast you went into the turn and how hard you pressed on the brake pedal or for how long
My ABS ('88) only seems to "light up" when I really get on the brakes at speed. I "tap" the pedal a lot to just scrub off a little speed (say 75/80 to 70/65) and don't get ABS flutter!
I have never had my abs come on at a very high speed, and I often drive fairly agressively. It only seems to come on during VERY HARD braking (ie. 60-0 tests) and when it is wet at lower speeds when a slick spot or gravel is encountered.
Mine do that, too. If I wind up entering a turn too fast and have to hit the brakes a bit, the ABS will usually flutter a bit. I assumed this was normal.

The system on on my 86 has a lateral (g-force) sensor mounted under the center console. Not sure of its function. But one would assume lateral force input is a consideration when braking.
If the inside wheel hit a small bump, it may have come off the road or slightly skidded. This would set of the ABS. In normal driving on rough roads, the ABS frequently goes off if I hit the brakes, even lightly. I doubt that you have a problem.
