Default Converting to external coil distributer

Hey guys whats involved in switching from incap-coil style dis. to the newer external coil ones, what wires do i have to splice and need a good place to mount the coil. thanks

If you get the distributor and coil with pig tail cut offs from the car you got the distributor from, you just need to match wire colors up. I mounted my coil on the firewall, between the brake vacuum booster and the wiper motor.

I looked at the service manual for my 91 Firebird with the remote coil and looked at the service manual for my 91 Vette. While the plugs were different, the color of the wires was the same. So, AFAIK, it will work. I took the end off the distributor and cut off the end off my Firebird distributor and soldered them together. Hope it works.

I bought an adaptor harness for $40 from www.jimsperformance.com
This makes it a plug'n'play deal and you don't have to modify your cars wiring harness...

Why are you switching? The external coil is not "newer". The coil in cap design is preferable due to the wider spacing between terminals in the cap.
