This may sound strange, but I pulled my door panel to lub a few things and figured I would find out why the light on the wiper switch didn't work. Well, the reason is not bulb socket. I have looked all over the door for the light and nada. My good old Haynes manual does't show the wire color for the light. Anyone know what I am looking for? I sure don't.

Is it supposed to light up? I didn't know that. I just assummed that it was never meant to be lit up.
I don't understand that comment. Just for yucks, I checked my '84 service manual. You don't say, but I ASSUME from your forum name, that your car is an '88. The windshield wiper service section doesn't address the procedure for changing the bulb. There is a 6 wire electrical connector that plugs into the switch. Terminal "A" has a .35 gray wire, circuit #8 that powers the light. The ground is a separate, .35 black wire, circuit #150. The bulb is a #194. If what you are saying, above, is that the bulb socket is missing, I don't find a part number in my parts book.
The comment about it not being the bulb socket is because there isn't one. Apparently at some time in one of it's prior lives, someone removed the socket and never replaced it. I finally found a pic of the wiper switch and it shows that the socket is powered/grounded on the switch itself, not with a seperate set of wires, which is what I was looking for. Thanks for the info. I sweat these cars do their best to make you feel humble. :-)
