I am trying to replace the axle seals on the 90 and have hit a snag. I cannot get the snap rings out that hold the yokes in. I bought a snap ring pliers from Sears but cannot seem to get the ring off.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks to help me? Any special tools that might make this job easier?

Hate to be an azz, but you need a real pair of snap ring pliers. I had a couple of sets that I'd gotten over the years, Channel Lock, no name from the auto parts store, and the snap ring won the battle against them. Bent / twisted the the pliers / tips. I got a large pair from Snap-on that did the job. Another thing that helps is as soon as you get the ring expanded, get a small screw driver between the ring and axle to keep it from setting back into the notch. Be sure to identify which side which snap ring came from. They're different thicknesses.
I think you are right. I already broke a few tips and have not gotten the rings out. I'll look around tomorrow to see if anyone around here has something better.
