well ive had my vette for two years and it won't start...so i put a new fuel filter, fuel pump, and plugs in...when i hook the plug wires up to a spark plug they seem to fire ok...any ideas? chris
My '95 LT1 that I've had for 2 years wouldn't start this weekend, too... But, it ended up being a loose positive cable.. The stereo shop that did my work this past Spring didn't tighten it all the way... I lucked out, this time!!
i figured that a new fuel pump would insure pressure, so buy a guage and check it at the fuel rail? oh, can you recommend a code instrument for a 1995, they are a must for repairing? chris

a pump should insure pressure... but I am thinking a VATS condition is biting you in the *** right about now.
Do you have a lap top or a spare desktop? If so, get the EASE software. www.obd2.com - it's what I have. NICE!!!! About 320.00 new.
Check all the cables... does it crank?
Do you have spark? If not, check the coil and coil wire. They are prone to wearing down and grounding out.
Don't forget to check your coil and ignition module, too. My car had a crank/no-start condition this spring, too, and it turned out the ignition module tanked and took my coil with it.
the way i checked the spark was to pull a wire and put a plue in it...then my wife turn the ignition...it seems to have a nice spark. could it still be the coil or ignition circuit
Engines need spark (and at the right time), fuel and air (and in the correct ratio) to start and run. First check the spark timing with a timing light. Next check for proper fuel pressure on the shrader valve on the fuel rail and turn the ignition off and see if the pressure holds. Rapid loss of fuel pressure can be a leaky injector causing a too rich mixture to start. Next, unplug an injector and clip a low power 12v lamp across the injector plug and crank the engine. The lamp should pulse showing that the ECM is pulsing the injectors. Remove the flexible air horn to be certain that the engine is getting air (clogged air filter will prevent a start).
