Default Steering Wheel Shakes

Just bought a one owner 94 with less than 5K miles. All seems great except steering wheel starts to shake at about 55-60 mph, but not consistently. Don't feel a great sense of control. I am a first time Vette owner so not really sure what to expect. Any similar problems?

i know exactly what your talkin about. i guarantee that you need an alignment. i did when i got mine. my car was waaaaay out of alignment. be sure to check your tires too. cause changing alingment can make the tires drive bad since they could already be worn funny due to bad alignment. so i say get her aligned and the wheel jerkin will be gone. but u may need tires after that. but it should be good then. unless you have some bad suspension parts. hope it helps. did with mine

look at your tires first. if the wear is even with no cupping or other signs of uneven wear. get the tires balanced first.
you may have simply thown a wheel weight or you may have a tire with ply separation..
Balancing at$10/tire is half the price of a four wheel alignment.
once you have eliminated tire problem, and the problem perisits, then get the alignment.

I would agree to get the tires balanced/checked first. Shaking in the sterring wheel at higher speeds is usually bad tire balance. Vibration in the seat that doesn't go away when you let off the gas is reear wheel balance.

Check your tire pressures as well.

Improperly inflated tires can cause vibrations too.

Find a local auto-x club and ask where they get their alignments done.
I was paying ~70$ for mine, then I found a the guy who supposedly is best in my town.... 44$ !!!
(P.S. The shop before did a terrible job, didn't tell me I had a bad ball joint and the alignment was out of whack in almost a day!)

Default Steering wheel shakes

You need a wheel balancing and an alignment. Take it to someone who has experience in doing the above. That should take care of this problem.
