I've had the black rear vinyl letters on the back of my vette for a while now and they've started to slowly peel. I ordered the new 3D rear letters and are going to replace them.
my question is, when i peel the vinyl letters off, a backing is left stuck on the car, and i was wanting to know the easiest way to remove them. and also, i wanted to know if theres anything special you need to do before sticking the 3D acrylic letters on, like wash the surface or anything 1st? thanks
Red: Use paint thinner to get the residue and sticky backing off. The paint thinner is also good for cleaning the surface prior to mounting the new letters. Paint thinner will not damage your clear coat. I use this method to remove my stick on car numbers for competition and have done so for 5 years without damaging my clearcoat.
how about "goo gone" or whatever that stuff is called? i've heard that works on emblems. I've even heard of using a blow dryer to make them come off easier.
