Your profile says you have an 85. From my 84-91 GM PArts & Illustration catalog the burnoff module for the 85 appears to be in the engine compartment under the battery near the firewall covered by the fuel pump relay whcih is mounted in front/on the burnoff module bracket.

I believe the burnoff is controlled by the relay noted above, upon an input from the ECM. The input is usually sent when the engine is shut down and the burnoff voltage lasts just a few seconds...maybe as much as 10, I forget.

Not sure you need to get behind the breadbox..what problems are you experiencing?

NO PEOPLE. 85 is different, no relays on the firewall.

You need to contact other people with 85s for this question, if you see Corvette0096, he would be able to help. I think he's had his out. All I know is that the screws holding in the breadbox come out on the doorside and in front, and its supposed to be behind it, probably behind the ECM.

Yes its behind the bread box. How you get to it is kind of a bear. You have to take the kick panel off and looking though the vent hole by the fuse box you will see the four bolts that need to come off. Long extension and a swivel and a 7mm will get them out.
