Default need help with a/c blower

i've got a slight problem with an 88 conv.
the a/c blower is not working. i'm wondering if the automatic control module went bad, or if there is a chance for a cheaper fix.
any ideas?

Mine wouldn't work in my '90 a few months ago. I could tap on it with a wrench and it would work....but just barely. I replaced it with a new one from GM for $70. Works now.

Make sure that the module is powered up - should be battery voltage on the red wire. Otherwise, check the input voltage on the brown wire - 2.5 volts for low blower - 7 volts for max. If there, check the output or purple - 4 volts low/12 volts max. You can also jumper the blower motor to the battery to make sure it works.

thanx guys!

@ brian:

you mean the whole controller box on the dash is not more than $70 ???
that would be a bargain for GM parts!

No. I replaced the blower motor, not the controller. The controller does act strange every now and then though. It locks up and won't do anything. i can tap the dash and it works again. i'm sure it won't be much longer before it gives up the ghost.

Dash Assembly is about $200 or so with a $40 to $50 core. You want to check the Blower Module that sits on the Evaporator case. It's less than $100. Part is used in all GM's with Electronic Air meaning you can get it from Buick, Cadillac, Chevy or Pontiac.
