I had hard start issues with the original leaking injectors and thought that the replacement 22lb injectors would be ok. After I put them in I find out that 85 is the only year that used 24lb injectors. The car runs great with the 22lb ones ( it must be because they are pink ) and I needed a new chip to replace the factory one that was originally in it so I could return the POS Hypertech chip I borrowed. There was a problem with the torque converter settings that were making the converter lock and un-lock in city driving making the car shudder. Go figure that I find out about this after a 1400 dollar transmission rebuild. I guess I like doing things the hard and expensive way.
HoustonBob just burned me a new chip and it should be in the mail as we speak. It should arrive just in time for the three days of rain we are going to get. Go figure...........I don't have a garage and do all my work in the driveway. The hard way again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adjust your TV cable tighter by just a notch or two. Only a notch or two! That will improve your locking-unlocking convertor. It will make your shifts a bit firmer as well.
As for burning chips for the 85...must be a lost art. I bought all the necassary hardware (laptop, aldl cable, chip burner) to do it myself but the ecu file needed to read the data is all but impossible to get a hold of. So my winter project is to upgrade to the 165 ecm and start burning from there. It's a faster processor and eliminates the MAF burnoff module.
Thanks for the info on the tv cable. I was adjusting it by going wot at the throttle body and the car was shifting funny. I noticed that when I adjust it by flooring the gas pedal instead it seemed better. It seems that the gas pedal method does not pull the cable as far as the throttle body method. I think i'll still go one more click though.
To get this extra click, do I depress the button and slide it one click back toward the firewall or one click toward the front of the vehicle. The reason I want to make sure is because the guy who rebuilt the tranny told me not to play around with the tv cable too much or I could screw up the tranny.
Slide to the rear.
The TV cable controls the Hydraulic line pressure in the trans.
Theoretically you should use a pressure gage but you can get by
without it, go the wrong way and you lower the pressure. Not good!
When You slide the cable foward without pushing button [this is the way it moves when you open throttle] this lowers the pressure.
To adjust it press the button, move the cable toward the back as far as possible, then step on the gas and let it slide foward.
This is the rec. factory adjustment,Then mark the cable with some white paint, push the button and slide cable housing back 2 notchs, [causing the cable to pull farther] I then remarked my cable with some yellow paint now if it slides foward I can tell.
You should be able to feel the shifts get firmer.
You will not hurt the trans unless you go too far foward and decrease the pressure to the point where the trans starts to slip.
