I was putting a new ignition cylinder in my 84. i got it in but i cant get the steering lock and horn switch back on. the spring that gives it resistance is bottoming out and i cant put the lock washer back on. it wont give me enough room to slide it in. It wont go back far enogh to so i can put it in. now i have no ride to get to work. i need help. anything. Ive tried everything.
Yes i do have a teliscopic wheel. Where can i get one of those lock plate compressor. Im pulling my hair over this stupid thing. Ive never encoutered something so difficult.
I got mine at an auto parts store, just about any auto parts store should have one.I replaced the cylinder in my 84 years ago so I cant remember what alls involved.I do remember that the buzzer contact, spring was a pain in the ***.
ok. ill do that. BUT....Is the teliscopic piece that has that pole in the middle of it supposed to stay put when that tool is used. because i can take it out. im not sure if thats normal.
Some lock plate compressors come with a screw to put in the telescoping shaft to lock it in the down position if it doesnot just find a screw that will screw into the shaft cut the head of the screw off than cut a slit in the top of the screw so you can use a screwdriver to lock and unlock it by screwing it into the shaft, the lock plate compressor should screw on to the shaft.Hope this helps
