How do I get the distributor cap open?

Default How do I get the distributor cap open?

To check the rotor? Can't figure out how to open this sucker.

take the cover of the back of the plenum off... take the plastic plug wire cover off... unscrew the 4 bolts holding the distributer cap on... unplug the connections to the rotor... and pull off carefully... you can leave the plug wires on or off...

Look around the dist base.

You will find four screws or latches which must be released so that the cap can be removed.

4, 1/4" screws. The two at the back are though.

Remove the 3 wires hooked to the distributor, carefully. Youll snap those little ends off.

Notice where they go so you put them back in the right spot.

Then its just 4 little screws, they dont have to come out of the cap, just loosen and tug side-side on the cap and it'll come loose.
