Default Tires for drag racing

I watched my friends drag at Beech Bend this weekend during the 10th NCM party and now I have the bug!!! It was suggested to me that I change tires. I now have the Goodyear HP Ultra Plus which are about 14 months old. My '93 is not my daily driver.

Any suggestions??

Run a few times on your current tires to see if you really get the bug. Don't spend the money until you are sure.

Then think about Drag radials if you will be driving to the track.
Sizes and rims are variable depending on what you have and where you decide you want to be.

Arrive at the strip with about 1/3-1/2 tank of fuel, drop rear tire pressure to around 30psi, drive around the water box and do a little dry hop to clean the tires before staging.

BTW, how do you like those GY Eagles? I'll soon be needing tires and they are one of my choices. Have you ever driven with them in light snow? Also please let us know how hook at the strip.

If you realy like drag racing and need a little more grip I recommend a set of BFG DRs. Last Sat. I bolted up a set of 255/16s from the IROC onto the Vette, lowered inflation to 17psi and hookup was great.
