Default Antenna Problem

I knew changing my antenna was going to be a pain, but removing the rear shade I didn't think so. Chiltons just says remove the shade in the antenna removal section. Mine does not just remove -- is their some special technique or tool necessary to remove this shade?

Thanks -- Mike

I just replaced the antena motor in my 94. The shade is spring loaded on the end. I used a small screw driver to wedge in behind the end of the shade to compress the end, on the antenal side, which is spring loaded. It pooped right out. Then I used a 3/16" wood dowel to push out the rubber gromet which is back in that cavity behind the shade.

Yep thats the way to do it. The only thing I did different is I used a small pry bar on mine. With that I had a little leverage and it poped right out. I also made sure that when I put the grommet back in I sprayed a little silicon on it so that also whent back in smooth.
