Default Interior light problem 93 --HELP--

I am working on a 93 that the interior lights have a mind of there own. The way the interior lights should work is that when you open the door the lights will stay on as long as the door is open. Then once the door is closed the lights should time out in about 30 seconds. At least this is the way that the interior lights work on my 96 and I assume it is the same in 93. Anyway, when I open the door on the 93 the lights time out in 8 seconds and stay out until I open the door where as they will time out again in 8 seconds. I have tried door switches, CCM's, relays, and went through the service manual 4 times checking grounds and the rest of the wiring. Also I'm not sure if this is relivant but the PKE is not working either. I just can't seem to get any results here. Anyone ever hear of anything as screwed up as this?? Please help.

Since you said you replaced the CCM, you are probably already aware that the CCM controls the timeout of the interior lights.

But, are you aware, when you replace the CCM with a new/refurbished one, the timeout is set extremely low (about 10 seconds) until you program the replacement CCM with the odometer mileage, VIN, and option content of the vehicle you are installing it in? After you program it, the timeout should be correct.
However, if you are using a CCM out of another vehicle for test purposes, the timeout should not be short.

But there shouldn't be a timeout at all if the door is open, correct? The CCM should only time out after the door is closed or if you activate the PKE. I forgot to mention that we tried 3 differant CCM's one out of a 94 and two that were "rebuilt". So I don't think that the problem is in the CCM, since we tried all of these different units. I even tried a new PKE module with no change in results. I am truely stumped.

If I recall correctly, there is a timer delay relay in the harness behind the PS dash. It controls the csty light delay feature. I don't have the manual here, so I can't be sure if that is correct.

That sounds correct, the timeout should start when the doors are closed. Sounds like an intermittent switch or wiring problem to me.
