Here's what's been happening..Had the dreaded dealer change the EGR valve and selenoid on my 91 back in May, all was well for about a week when the SES light comes back on!!!. I take it back and they recheck, all is ok. Light keeps coming back about every other day, car is running well during all of this by the way, take it back again and they find the park/neutral switch out of adjustment, fix that. Begins to throw code 32 within another day or two. I put in a new P/N switch for $28.00 vs. the dealer for $$$$,this worked for about a week then the SES again with code 32!!!!. With all new parts in,what am I missing?? Is it time for a new ECM?? Any thoughts, suggestions???
Mine was doing this because the EGR temp switch (on top of the metal tube rear passenger side of the block) backed out of the housing. If the conditions are correct and the ECM signals the EGR to open - and the temp switch does not close (showing hot exhaust is going through the tube) it will trip a code 32. If the actual EGR valve is bad the exhaust gas will not flow either - but a lot of code 32s are attributed to the switch.
I have an 86 so I can't be sure about a 91, but I think you do have an EGR or EGT switch. When the EGR is open and gasses flow through, it heats up the switch and the switch closes letting the computer know that the EGR is in fact working. This switch appears to be the most likely culprit for a Code 32 and it is under $10. One of the members, 65Z01, procedure on his website for troubleshooting this problem and it is very good.
no, i have a 90 and dont have an egr switch..the egr code is determined by the ecm under certain conditions....i ve searched a lot , how the ecm is determining code 32, which input values are used for the calculation..dont find it out until to now..
ive solved code 32 by burning my own chips..its just a click in a checkbox.....
