My D44 drips just a little, it's been parked in the same location for 6 months or so and I've got maybe 3 or 4 drops on the ground.
I currently have the differential / batwing completely out of the car to upgrade the bushings to poly.
Wondering if the dripping is normal or if I should go ahead and remove the batwing / cover and try to fix the leak. Are there gaskets for these things or do you just apply RTV to the surfaces?
If I open it up I'll probably add the drain plug while I'm at it.
The leak isn't normal and sould be fixed. The factory uses rtv to seal. No gasket is used. I use prematex ultra copper. It has never let me down. I would advise against the drain idea. A few friends have done it and it always seems to seep a bit, regardless of sealant used on threads on plug. Good luck either way.
