Default Hooker/TPiS/Exotic Muscle

So whats the concensus on the long tubes from all of these manufacturers? I imagine all of them provide the same power gain...so where does all the difference in price come from? How are the fit and finish of each? Personal opinions? Dyno charts?

Well Hooker and TPiS both sell 1 3/4 headers and Heddman sells 1 5/8. Exotic Muscle sells both 1 3/4 and 1 5/8. I wont go into which one is better because that will start a war again

As of now, my combo is '88 Porsche 944 Turbo S, but I'm looking to dump it and get a late C4 ASAP. Eventually it'll be something along the lines of heads/cam LT4 (will be shooting for 410ish HP). This obviously means I'll be sticking with the 350ci motor.

Having said that, I suppose the 1 5/8 would probably be better for low end tq, but after reading stuff on here, I won't be touching the heddmans. How much difference in tq is there between say, hooker's 1 3/4 and EM's 1 5/8 headers?

If your goal is 400+ hp you want the 1 3/4

In terms of fitment, there is supposedly no better than EM. Check the thread in C4 General - page 2 there are some pics. The pics are mainly for our discussion of cat pipes, but you can see headers in a couple. I don't have mine yet (1.5 weeks and counting), but I've yet to hear someone who didn't think the headers themselves were the nicest they'd ever seen.

Hope I don't start a war...

No need to start a war. We just finished one. It is amazing, sometimes, that questions can be re-asked with such frequency. Although it wasn't long ago, I found this thread by usng the SEARCH feature. It is right on point. Go HERE.

I know the topic has been discussed. I've seen LT header topics before. Too lazy to use the search.

edit: that topic seems to refer to the L98....young'ns like me might like to know if there is a difference in using the headers on the L98 and the LT1/4....

I would say depends also if your making it emmissions legal because if not just get like hedman or hookers that dont ahve connections for the AIR/EGR system to come in the top. But make sure you have a bung for the 02 sensor!!!!!! you have to have this hooked up.
Personally I'm running hedman.
I say hooker they are the best.

alright....just talkin headers here, we need not get bent out of shape, so thanks for lookin it up for me, and yes I did read the information posted there as well.

So TPiS has the 200-099 which is "painted with emmisions" Do you just get a coating put on over the paint? Would Jet Hot take care of all of that?

Concerning the Hooker headers, will the hooker headers shown on Jet-Hot's web site as for the '92-'95 fit on an LT4?

For EM headers, which one of these fits the LT4 with full emmisions hook-ups:

or is it one of the others on their exhaust page ?

Thanks

You need to contact TPiS, Jet Hot, Hooker, and EM, to get the straight scoop, right from the horse's mouths.

I have a manual tranny, and in my '90 there was almost ZERO fitment issues for the Hooker #2149's....and this includes the Hooker front Y-pipe. I think they're fantastic.
