Do I have a retarded ECM?
After driving it to work a couple times it is running much better but it still doesn't feel as quick as before. Close, but my butt-o- meter says it is still off a little and fuel consumption is still down a couple miles per gallon. I had the power disconnected for 2 weeks while I pulled the intake base and replaced the leaking seals and did some other work. It ran better the second trip to work than the first, and today it is a bit better. Would it take two 75 miles round trips to work for the ECM to get back in sinc with everything else? I would think that the ECM would only need a few miles to get it's head on straight.

When you disconnected the battery the BLM on all cells is reset to 128.
If a given cell NEEDS to be 118 (due to the fact that it's removing fuel from a rich situation) the ECM has to learn this new situation.
Since the BLM is a LONG term fuel trim it needs time to be rock in that cell.
The next time you go in the same cell the ecm does non need anymore to start from 128 (it know that it has to start from 118).
This is for every MAP/rpm reading. Probably your car is good now in the MAP/RPM range that you usually use, not in the cells that you used only for some seconds.
