Blew a pin-hole in the rubber part of the cylinder head steam vent line right at the hose connector (fortunately). The rubber hose goes into a steel line that connects to the expansion tank, overflow tank and radiator.
Is it possible to replace just the rubber part of the hose assembly? The hose goes into a connector at the steel line. I'm not familiar with that kind of connection.
The rest of the rubber is probably not in real good shape either. I just replaced that hose on my 96, about $70 if you shop around at GMpartdirect.com or other online dealers, or about $140 list at you local robber.
It looks like you could cut crimped on fitting off the metal tube, leaving as much of the metal tube as you can. The tube on mine measures a hair under 5/16. You could either clamp a hose directly to the stub or get a tube to hose adaptor that uses a ferulle fitting to clamp to the metal tube.
Just clamping should be good enough. With 15 psi cooling system pressure, there will only be just over 1 lb force trying to blow the hose off the metal tube.
