I have a 90 Auto Vert with 45,000 miles and lately I have been experiencing a shutter when the car is in overdrive and the throttle is lightly depressed. If the pedal is pushed to the point of downshifting, no shutter is experienced. No other problems have been encountered.
I suspect this has something to do with the torque converter locking up and not releasing but I don't know how to troubleshoot this problem.
Any hints at what to do to narrow down the possibilities would be much appreciated.
If your spark plugs or wires are failing it will show up in a part throttle high load situation,in top gear converter locked. If you ohm out your ignition wires it will tell you quickly. Just a thought sometimes it isn't the transmission problem, but not being there I might be wrong. Good luck and let us know. Ron B.
