Your six speed has a backup switch, up high on drivers side near top left bolt of the five bolts that hold tranny to clutch housing, that may be bad. Check the wiring to it and the switch. I think you should be able to check switch by unplugging the wire harness and jumper it with a paper clip with your key forward and lights should come on. If they do the switch is probably bad.
