Ok guys and gals, here's the problem. I am new to corvette ownership, just bought a '93 LT1, and had the waterpump go out on me. While I was replacing it, and yes I followed all the instructions in my Haynes book, but while I was tightening the new waterpump on I guess the sleeve that goes on the drive spline didn't match up completely and it broke the drive spline off the block. My question is does anyone know how much it cost to replace that drive spline, and would it just be cheaper to put in an electric water pump instead?
Alright, I checked with the stealership and a new shaft assembly is going to run me $90. And to replace the dang thing means I have to pull out the opti and the timing chain just to get to the part. All because I guess I wasn't careful enough when I was putting the new waterpump in. Just goes to show...
Well, it is now looking like I am going to go with a meziere electric pump instead of pulling out everything back to the timing chain. So does anyone know how difficult pulling the guts out of the old waterpump might be?

Very easy to do.
You will have to plug the waterpump drive hole in the timing cover.
Also, if you decide to run the stock water pump, let me know. I pulled the water pump drive out of my car at 15,000 miles, you can have it if you would like. $90 at the dealer is highway robbery.

Well, the $90 dollars was for the shaft that comes out of the timing cover. And to replace that I would have to remove everything up to and including the timing chain. So instead of spending $180 plus in parts for a reman waterpump and that shaft assembly i think i'll just spend $150 and get an electric pump. That way I don't have to do much other than clean out the inside of my old waterpump. Of course considering how many miles are on this vette, I'm not surprised at having to replace stuff like this.
Jack, I lost mine on my tear down too! I posted over to the parts section. A kind forum member gave me his old one after he converted to electric. I would try there first. I will look around the garage. Maybe I will find it for you...Good luck
