Been trying to find some info on the zz4 motor inorder to replace my L98. For those who done this switch. Newb question. Can the original or upgraded tpi system(such as accel or others) even ram sysems fit on this engine. Does the harness and computer remain the same.
Can anyone give me a breakdown on whats needed with this block(from gm-parts depot) to drop in my ride 86 vette auto tran coupe.
Sorry for the newb question but info on the zz4 just talk about the block naked with a carb application, want to know about those whom put a tpi system on it.
I'm planning on buying a ZZ4 shortblock in the future and bolting on my heads and intake. So yes it should fit however I know others will offer more info.

Here are the thing that won't work Harmonic balancer. Water pump. One of the bolts with have to be grounded down on the water pump. Super ram will bolt up fine. all the plug holes are there. You will be fine. sell the intake dist and water pump and ballancer you wont need them. Oh one more thing use the gear off the new dist on your old dist.

Scoggin Dickey, Jegs, and Summit all sell the ZZ4 short block for around $2k. It is just the block assembly minus heads, intake, oil pan, and other odds and ends.
This is my recommendation because the TPI set up won't bolt to the Vortec heads. Get the short block and a set of Brodix or Trickflow heads and use the TPI.
you may also want to check www.hpsalvage.com. I was there a little over a month ago and he had several LT1 motor-trans-computer assy's sitting ready for install. He also had an LT4 and a few LS1s. His prices are reasonable since you are getting the entire assembly ready for install. I thought about that for one of my older car projects. Hope this helps some.
