THe lever threads were stripped for many years, but i managed to keep it working. The Guerrillas at the Tranny shop managed to jam my wheel in the upmost position. I cant drive a Vette with the Granny Style Wheel...
It seems to be jammed, I cant wiggle it ot force it. Does anybody have a clue how I can get the thing free? I dont care if it tilts anymore, i just want it lower!
Is the lever out and you are trying to move the wheel with just the lever stub?? In which case you can try to rethread the lever or get a used one from Contemporary Corvette (link on my site).
Otherwise, you may need to get a copy of the Shop Manual to see how to service the mechanism.
The lever is out, but i can stick it back in, its just that the mechanism is stuck. I hope there is a fix for this, I dont want to dish out more $$$ this year for the Vette.
I had such a good couple of years, this year really sucked!
If your careful, you could take that wheel & column apart and fix it fairly cheap. Many on here have don't it, it's not that bad. You'll need a few tools though, mainly the wheel puller...
