I don't have a TPiS catalog, but have they ever lied to you before? The service manual covers this as well. The only difference in roller rockers and the conventional, stock, pallet type, rockers, is in the tightening of the poly-lock set screw, if used. You can't get the Allen set screw tight enough with the little Allen wrench. Once you have the adjusting nut where you want it, back off about 1/16th of a turn. Screw the Allen lock screw down until it contacts the stud. Then, rotate the adjusting wrench AND the Allen wrench, simultaneously that last 1/16th of a turn. All this was covered, yesterday.

RACE ON!!!

I believe you are refering to the procedure on pp. 61 of their catalog, and I pretty much agree with that method.

My method differed only slightly:
-I set the preload just after setting zero lash.
-I set preload to 1/2 turn plus another 1/8 turn.

I found that I could detect zero lash to within 1/8 turn; this assured me that preload was set between 1/2-3/4 turn. Remember that the idea of setting preload is to depress the lifter piston to about the midpoint in it's travel within the lifter bore.

An advantage of setting preload after setting zero lash on each rocker, as recommended by TPIS, is that the engine will be easier to turn over manually than if you set preload as you go. When I used this latter method it took some grunt to move the crank shaft to adjust the last few rockers.
