Default Upper body panel attachment

How does the upper body panel at the B pillar attach ( you know, where the hatch & rear or the roof connect ) ? Is it bolted or bonded? Can it be removed without damage? Where would I find one short of the dealer?

Thanks in advance

I don't think you can remove it without cutting it off. There were pics on here a while back where someone cut theirs off to make a vert or some custom top.

You will destroy it removing it. Dealer is the only place I know of for replacement b pillar.

Dumb question but is the fiberglass exterior a seperate piece from the dealer or do you get more with it?

I just dismantled an '86 C4 all the way down to the birdcage or skeleton. This was a rollover and the customer wanted the car stripped down to the frame. While I was separating the fenders from the car I was led to remove the fiberglass that covers the halo. It is bonded in place and is very difficult to remove without damaging it and everything else around it. It seems to be a separate piece and where to get one is anyone's guess. I imagine the dealer could get one. I looked in the parts book and it isn't listed as a part. You might try a specialty wrecking yard and ask them for one. Most yards don't let customers pull parts off the car so if they damage it you won't be liable. I think they would try to remove it. With a lot of patience, I think it is possible to remove it with minimal damage, whether it's worth it or not is questionable especially if it has to be repaired. If you pull the corner of the hatch weatherstripping back you can see a seam. Where the fender and halo meet is also where the two are bonded together. If this part is damaged I would be looking at repairing it before trying to remove and replace it.

Thanks for input. My reason for the original question is that I'm putting a full roll cage into the car and was wonderiing about tieing the cage into the B pillar instead of having the cage just sit inside the frame. I haven't seen it done and this probably explains it.

From some of the pics of other members' rollbars I have seen here on the forum,
everyone has used the small triangle pad behind the seats on that same pillar to anchor the main hoop.
Maybe someone will chime in with a pic here. I think they cut out a hole their to get to the metal frame underneath?
There was an article of how the quarter panels are on the car and repaired in Vette magazine's project 87 named "little wrecked corvette" starting with the July 2003 edition.
I also saw on Ebay a complete 1 piece section that had the 2 quarter panels joined by the pillars and halo bar. I think the guy had cut it out of a body he was parting out.
